How it works
What you give us, what you get, and why you can trust it
You give us your website. We ask ChatGPT the questions a buyer in your category might ask, three times each with web search on, and record every answer word for word. You get a report of which brands the answers name, which websites they cite and what they say about you, with every number opening to the answers behind it.
- 1
You give us your website
Your website address and the names your brand goes by. That’s all: no login, no data, no access to anything of yours.
- 2
We ask ChatGPT what your buyers would ask
We prepare the questions a buyer in your category might ask, and ask ChatGPT each one three times with web search on, because it answers differently each time. Every answer is recorded word for word.
- 3
You get the report, and a walkthrough
Which brands the answers name, which websites they cite, what they say about you, and what to do next. We walk your team through it.
- 4
We ask again, 4 weeks later
The same questions, asked the same way, so you can see what changed after you’ve acted.
Why you can trust the numbers
An AI visibility number is only as good as the answers behind it. These are the promises every Citationly report keeps.
Every number opens to its answers
Click any count in the report and read the answers behind it, word for word, with the websites each one cited.
A count, never a made-up score
“Named in [n] of [N] answers we recorded.” No score out of a hundred that nobody can check, and no share without its count.
The same questions every time
Once your questions are set, they stay the same, so every later run compares like with like.
Nobody picks questions to flatter you
The questions are what a buyer in your category might ask, not what makes anyone look good, including us.
We say which model answered
Every report records the model, the date, and whether web search was on. Today that’s ChatGPT only, and we don’t claim engines we don’t run.
We describe our search, not the world
If you weren’t named, the report says “not named in any of these answers”, because that’s what we know.
Which model answers?
Answers come from OpenAI’s GPT models, the family behind ChatGPT, asked through OpenAI’s API with web search turned on.
The ChatGPT app adds its own memory and settings, so the answer you get in your own ChatGPT may differ.
What a second run tells you
Asking the same questions again shows what moved and what didn’t. Two runs show a difference, not a direction, and not proof of what caused it. We say so in the report.
